ANQUILOSE DE ARTICULAÇÃO TEMPOROMANDIBULAR

Resumo

Introdução: A anquilose da ATM é definida como a fusão entre a cabeça da mandíbula e a cavidade glenóide, resultando na restrição dos movimentos mandibulares. O trauma a causa mais comum de anquilose, principalmente na infância e caso não haja tratamento para fratura no côndilo, a massa miosítica pode crescer e resultar em massa óssea e ocasionar a anquilose. Objetivo: Este artigo tem por objetivo realizar uma revisão de literatura acerca da anquilose de articulação temporomandibular, bem como abordar sua etiologia, diagnóstico e formas de tratamento dispostos na literatura. Materiais e métodos: A metodologia utilizada foi a revisão de literatura em trabalhos qualificados publicados na área de cirurgia, anatomia e patologia bucomaxilo com ênfase na anquilose da ATM e suas características. Foram registrados os diversos sinais da patologia, bem como seus mecanismos de diagnósticos e formas de tratamento. Discussão: A artroplastia em gap é definida como terapêutica ainda utilizada no tratamento de anquilose, porém apresenta maior índice de recidiva, portanto, a artroplastia com interposição é preconizada atualmente. Conclusão: Pode-se concluir que trauma é a causa mais comum de anquilose da ATM e seu tratamento é fundamental para o reestabelecimento funcional do paciente.
