TRATAMENTO ENDODÔNTICO COM PRESENÇA DE FÍSTULA - REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Abstract
The objective of this study is to present knowledge about endodontic treatment with presence of fistula. The review presented includes articles from the scientific literature from the Lilacs, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline and Google Academics databases. Articles from 2011 to 2021 were included in the study, the terms used in the searches were "endodontic lesions", "dental alveolar lesions", "dental alveolar abscess" and "dental alveolar fistula" in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The main results found showed that the dentoalveolar fistula of endodontic etiology is a consequence of a pathological process, indicating the presence of pulp necrosis, infected root canal or failure in primary endodontic treatment. The pulp vitality test, the fistula screening technique and the radiographic examination are essential criteria for confirming the diagnosis. In addition, endodontic treatment is the first choice, whenever the dental crown can be restored, the recommended intracanal medication is calcium hydroxide. It is concluded that, based on the correct diagnosis associated with the cleaning systems of the canals in a uniform and efficient way, introducing medication and radiographic follow-up, it is possible to achieve success in the treatment of fistulas of endodontic origin.
