Abstract

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) developed in psychotherapy can be understood as the midpoint between passivity and aggression. Thus, it is essential that the psychologist has skills that facilitate empathic, respectful, healthy, and non-violent communication. This research aimed to explain about Nonviolent Communication, as well as to relate its precepts and its importance for the good development of psychological care. With that, to guide the development of this article, it has the following problem to be answered: How can non-violent communication have an influence, when well applied and developed by the therapist and his patient, during psychological care? As methodological precepts, a basic bibliographic survey was carried out, to present a rationale for the proposed debate. In other words, the bibliographic survey was used as a method, based on research in the field of psychology, as well as on theses, dissertations and articles published on websites, magazines and databases related to other areas of psychology. it is concluded that non-violent communication is essential for therapy to be positive and effective, in addition, communication between psychologist and patient is a tool that turns thoughts into reality, because the right word, expressed consciously is not just an act of communicating, but something capable of transforming and raising the awareness of the patient in search of a solution to their internal issues.
