Ozoniotherapy action on diabetic foot ulcers
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder with persistent hyperglycemia due to deficiency in the production of insulin, failure in its action or both mechanisms that can cause long-term complications such as foot ulceration. Ozonotherapy is effective in healing these wounds, in accelerating tissue repair, with antimicrobial, bactericidal and fungicidal benefits. The objective of the research is to attribute the effectiveness of ozone therapy in the treatment of diabetic foot, characterizing the technique used in the ulcer, analyzing the effectiveness within the treatment of ulcers and attributing the action of ozone gas in the injured tissue. The method is basic, strategic, descriptive, with a qualitative approach to analyze this information, with a hypothetical-deductive method and bibliographic procedure. The findings of ozone therapy in diabetic foot ulcers were that few studies have been done to validate its effectiveness. It was concluded that there is evidence that ozone therapy is potentially effective for the treatment of chronic wounds with accelerated healing and total closure of this complex and low-cost wound.
